Her name is Italian for “with sweetness.” She was studying to be a concert pianist before changing her major. First African-American woman to be Secretary of State.

He was Congressman John Lewis.

Day 18 (Guess Who?): He was a civil rights activist. He was a Congressman representing Georgia. He worked with and marched alongside Dr. King. He said to get into “Good Trouble” in order change unjust laws.

Day 17 (Guess Who?): He was the first African-American to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in the U.S. He was an agricultural scientist that helped farmers becoming better at sustainable agriculture He worked at the Tuskegee Institute. He wrote about 300 different ways to use peanuts.

He was George Washington Carver.

Day 16 (Guess Who?): He taught himself to read despite being born into slavery. He escaped enslavement and became an abolitionist. He was also a supporter for women’s rights. He was the most photographed man in the 19th century.

He was Frederick Douglas.

Day 15 (Guess Who?):She didn’t start ballet until she was 13 years old. First African-American woman to become principal dancer of the American Ballet Theatre. She created a foundation for children to learn ballet along with mentoring and tutoring.

She is Misty Copeland.

He was Muhammad Ali.

Day 14 (Guess Who?): HIs given name was Cassius Clay. He won a gold medal at the 1960 Olympics for boxing. His professional boxing record was 56 wins to 5 losses. His nickname was “The Greatest.”

He was W.E.B Duboise.

Day 13 (Guess Who?): He fought civil rights. He helped form the NAACP.
Attended Harvard University and was the first African-American to earn a Doctorate there.

Day 12 (Guess Who?): He was the first African American to play in the Major League Baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He served in the Army during WWII. After baseball, he became VP to Chock Full O’ Nuts Coffee.

Day 11 (Guess Who?): She was an abolitionist and women’s rights activist. Her given name was Isabella Baumfree, but changed it when she escaped slavery. She helped recruit Black soldiers to the Union during the Civil War.

She was Sojourner Truth.
